چکیده

In a multi-hop wireless sensor network (WSN) with a constant node density, the nodes that are one hop away from the Sink die first and cause an “energy hole,” because they must forward the traffic from the rest of the network. When this hole forms, a large amount of “excess” energy is trapped in the other nodes. In this paper, we propose that some of those other nodes use some of the excess energy to do cooperative transmission (CT) to hop directly to the Sink, thereby relieving the nodes near the sink of some of their burden and balancing the energy consumption across the network. The REACT protocol triggers CT range extension when the next-hop node along a primary route has a lower residual energy than the current node. The paper considers several criteria for selecting the cooperators, and compares our proposed scheme to the AODV and CMAX multi-hop protocols through simulation.

Numerical analysis of energy transmission through discontinuities and fillings in Kangir Dam

A considerable amount of energy is released in the form of shock wave from explosive charge detonation. Shock wave energy is responsible for the creation of crushing and fracture zone around the blast hole. The rest of the shock wave energy is transferred to rock mass as ground vibration. Ground vibration is conveyed to the adjacent structures by body and surface waves. Geological structures li...

Throughput Maximization for Multi-Slot Data Transmission via Two-Hop DF SWIPT-Based UAV System

In this paper, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) assisted cooperative communication system is studied, wherein a source transmits information to the destination through an energy harvesting decode-and-forward UAV. It is assumed that the UAV can freely move in between the source-destination pair to set up line of sight communications with the both nodes. Since the battery of the UAV may be limite...

Extending Network Lifetime using Optimal Transmission Range in Wireless Sensor Networks

In wireless sensor networks (WSN), the energy hole problem is the major factor which shorten the network lifetime. While transmitting the data, a sensor node dissipates energy. The energy consumption rate of sensor nodes differs with the different transmission range distance. A sensor node with the same transmission range dissipates more energy to forward the data for the short distance and it ...

Energy-balanced cooperative transmission based on relay selection and power control in energy harvesting wireless sensor network

Energy harvesting can be leveraged by Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) to address its energy-scarcity problem, giving rise to Energy Harvesting Wireless Sensor Network (EHWSN). Residual energy balancing of sensors is the key issue to avoid sensors’ failure and promise the network function of EHWSN. In this paper, by exploiting the sensors around the source and sink as relays, we propose a distribu...
